Sew Many Things Owner Dianne Smith wants to teach you the joy of sewing!

In a way, it seems like it was only yesterday, but in reality it was more than 50 years ago when all this started.

The year was 1955, Elvis was on his way to becoming the King of Rock and Roll, but near Dallas, Texas, I began what was to become a life long passion.

The family doctor had ordered my Mother to bed so she could be rested enough to give birth to one of my siblings.  During that holiday season, my Father brought home something better than a bicycle, or any toy that a could could find under the Christmas tree.

You see, My Dad brought home a shiny new sewing machine! 

My Father and I spent hour upon hour practicing fancy stitches.

When I was a child, I used to make a dollar an hour babysitting and most of that money was spent on material.  By the time I was 15, I had become a waitress and used my tip money to make clothes that I wore to school and other places.

I've worked in sewing factories in Athens, Terrel and Kaufman and have many customers starting in 1998 from North Dallas to Rowlett that I have decorated, including upholstry and window treatments.

I decided to open my store because so many of the "Big Box" stores that people have become dependent on are getting out of the fabric business.  There are so many in the Van Zandt County and surrounding areas that share my love of sewing, and I wanted to be able to share that with people, and felt that being able to stick close to home for courteous and knowledgeable service was a plus, as opposed to having to take several hours to drive to the bigger cities.

I carry a great line of fabrics, notions, accessories, special quilting items and so much more, including the ability to be able to special order fabrics and re-order favorite materials.

I am offering sewing and craft classes for children and adults, as well as in-store sewing machine repairs and scissor sharpening.
